It finally cooled down enough yesterday evening to take a walk over to Grandmothers' Garden, where I found this pretty echinacea flower. Click on it to see it larger, and look at the detail. Nature's geometry is magical.

I'm back from a week in New York state, where I had a blast at my class reunion and camped with a bunch of hippies in the woods. Well, not really, but close enough. ;)
This is the bear on the fountain in the middle of Main Street in my hometown of Geneseo, NY. I took this out the window of my car on the way out of town, and didn't notice until I uploaded my pix yesterday that the moon is right there over his head.
When the Americans beat the Russians in the Olympic hockey game in '80, there was a celebration downtown, and the bear got knocked down. As he is a symbol of the town, there was a big to-do over making sure he got repaired. Downtown sure looked empty without him. It was so nice to see him again after all these years.

I came across this amazing fungus walking down Western Avenue in Westfield the other day. It's about the size of a human brain...
I'll be on vacation starting tomorrow. Off to the wilds of western New York again, this time with a trip to my high school reunion thrown in. Have a wonderful week, and I'll see you when I get back!

While it may not be very sunny out today, at least these asters are cheerful! This particular type is known as Daisy Fleabane, and is purported to repel fleas, as the name implies. Apparently it doesn't repel other bugs, like the one collecting pollen here.
