Roses at Stanley Park

Stanley Park in Westfield, MA, has many interesting features, but one of my favorites is the formal rose garden. There are many different varieties of roses, bordered by beds of various other plants and flowers.

Grandmothers' Garden

nasturtiums, originally uploaded by LizzieBelle Too.

Not far from where I live, there's a lovely little spot called Grandmothers' Garden. In the Colonial Revival style, the park was designed as a memorial to the mother of the man who deeded the property to the city of Westfield. It is maintained entirely by volunteers, and it has a lovely assortment of flowers and ornamental plants, as well as brick-paved pathways and a wisteria-covered gazebo.

As you can see, it's a place I love to go back to again and again. You can see a set of my favorites here.

Today is Nature Photography Day, so I went out to the wildlife sanctuary by Stanley Park in Westfield, MA, and took some nature photos. This one is a fern I found along the path, dappled with waterdrops from a light rain earlier. Taken on June 15, 2008

Oh, and Happy Father's Day to all of you dads out there!

new blog

angelic, originally uploaded by LizzieBelle Too.

I've started a new photo blog, which I'm calling (so far) Doorways into Faerie. It's a little different from this one in that I'm trying to tell a story with the picture, rather than just showcasing the picture and telling where it was taken. Check it out, if you would, and let me know what you think! I would love feedback and suggestions. Thanks!
